Grief

A poem about grief.

Ripped from our hearts
Lost and bereft
Beating grief
Suddenly depleted
Suddenly departed
Our souls cumbered with a rift.

Time to realize what is true
Whether we grasp
Our life fulfilled
Our life achieved
A life healed
Joyous, joyful, jubilant.

Agony, anguish, sorrow
Take life
To limitation
To fulfillment
Never despair
Never give up.

Gracious, genial, courteous
Always smiling
Always amiable
Thinking of loved ones
Gone to rest in peace
For eternity but not lost.

Treasure, cherish, appreciate
Loved ones here
Healing bones
Rejuvenate, revive, repair
Heartache sedated
Pacify, quell, quite.
Honor, praise, proclaim
Glorious lives
Memorialize
Commemorate
The times we celebrated.
