The Traveler's Friend

A poem about traveling with a special friend.

Excitement enjoyed
With a special friend
Enjoying the views and sounds
And the laughter and happiness of travel
When we gazed at the views together
That brought us pleasure
And delightful days
Of sun, sea, and land.

The feeling never goes
When we sing and dance
And get merry
Seeing the sights
Two friends who laugh
Together, enjoying their surroundings
The fruitful time to pass
Which may never come again.

At last, we’ve arrived
To a place, we never thought we’d see
A foreign land
That melts our hearts
And deepens our souls
For we thought we’d never see
This land together
As we wander along
Trying new things
Eating and drinking
Seeing and observing
The rivers of time.

Now you’re no longer able to enjoy
The traveling of time
Seeing the world
With your best friend
Because time has caught you up
Taken you to a place
An emotional time
Where no other can go.

Maybe one day
It will get better
The pain and suffering
Will leave your body
Then life will go on.
We will see lands of joy
One more time
In a country, we’ve not yet seen.
A new spiritual journey
To look forward to
Will once come yet again.
All we have to do is believe it
For the time will pass
As we remember
All the days we had.

So, as you take the journey of pain
Close your eyes and see
That this time will pass on by
Think graceful thoughts
About places
We can see
And enjoyment to come
When we take further steps
To a wonderment
We never thought would come.
